Wrapping Up September with Gratitude, Stepping Boldly into October

As September closes, the Restorative and Transformative Justice (RTJ) Hub reflects on a month filled with connection, creativity, and collaboration.

We celebrated the reveal of our community mural in partnership with Slammin Brew, a vibrant expression of resilience, culture, and unity. This mural is more than artwork; it is a testament to our community’s voice and vision for transformation.

Through our partnership with Mercer County Human Services, the Hub was identified as a stop during the Youth Justice Commission’s (YJC) hosting of the NJ Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee’s quarterly meeting. This opportunity allowed national leaders and partners to see firsthand how restorative practices are taking root in Mercer County, creating stronger bridges between systems and community. Adding to the month’s highlights, we welcomed the National Racial and Ethnic Disparities Chair from the Coalition for Justice Executive Board, affirming the Hub’s role in advancing equity and addressing disproportionality.

Looking Ahead to October: Youth Justice Action Month

As we step into October, we are proud to join the national recognition of Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM), a time to uplift young people, amplify their voices, and promote justice that heals and transforms.

We invite you to join us for a special panel event on October 29th, featuring the Mercer County Prosecutor and community partners, with a keynote address by Janetta Marbrey. Together, we will reflect, strategize, and recommit to building pathways of accountability, hope, and opportunity for youth.

With Gratitude

None of this work happens alone. We extend deep thanks to our partners and collaborators who make the vision of the Hub possible:

  • Mercer County Human Services and YJC for identifying the Hub as a tour stop during the YJC meeting.

  • Slammin Brew for their continued collaboration and community spirit.

  • Leon Rainbow, whose artistry helped bring to life, color, and meaning to the mural.

  • And all of our community members, youth, and partners who continue to walk alongside us in this restorative journey.

At the Hub, every mural, every gathering, and every conversation contributes to a larger movement: making justice more human, more restorative, and more whole. September reminded us of our strength together, and October calls us forward with fresh purpose and possibility.
