Shifting Paradigms, One Adventure at a Time: HUB Summer Enrichment Trip Recap

This summer, our CCC/HUB youth took on the city that never sleeps, and what a day it was!

Our first stop was at iHeart Radio headquarters, where young people got an inside look at the magic of radio and podcasting. From stepping into live studios to meeting hosts across music genres, youth experienced the energy, creativity, and career pathways that shape the voices we hear every day. We were even personally invited to DJ Envy's Car Show!

Next, we slowed down to take in some culture at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The group toured the Superfine exhibit, a dazzling tribute to 300 years of fashion culture and dandyism, before exploring the breathtaking Arts of Africa gallery. The history, creativity, and beauty sparked real conversations about identity, style, and the ways culture continues to shape us.

Of course, no first trip to NYC would be complete without a Times Square photo opp. After soaking in the lights, sounds, and sights, we grabbed a big family-style lunch at Dallas BBQ’s, fueling up before racing the city’s famous rush hour traffic home.

For some of our participants, this was their very first trip to New York, and we’re honored to have shared it with them. Experiences like this remind us that shifting paradigms often begins with simply opening the door to what’s possible. Exposure plants the seed. Imagination waters it. Opportunity makes it grow.

We also want to give a special shoutout to Erica Ford and our friends at Life Camp Inc., Though we couldn’t connect this time, we’re looking forward to building together in the future.
