As we step into December, we take a moment to reflect on the powerful work that shaped our November, and to celebrate a major milestone for our community.
Wednesday, December 3rd, the Restorative & Transformative Justice Hub officially marked one year since our doors opened. One year of showing up. One year of healing. One year of transformation in motion.
Before we celebrate what’s ahead, we honor the meaningful moments that brought us here.
November Highlight: Restorative Justice Training with Trenton Police Department
One of the most significant moments this month was our ability to provide a two-day Restorative Justice training to members of the TPD. This opportunity arrived just one year after the Department of Justice released its report outlining challenges within TPD, making this training not only timely, but deeply symbolic.
It represented courage. It represented openness. It represented the kind of bridge-building the city deserves.
Officers from various units participated, engaging in hard conversations, reflection, and learning centered on community healing, trauma awareness, and accountability practices rooted in dignity and humanity.
This training wasn’t about checking a box. It was about beginning the work of building trust, one conversation, one insight, one relationship at a time.
December 3rd: The HUB Turns One
Wednesday, December 3rd, we celebrated the HUB’s 1-year anniversary.
One year of:
Healing alongside young people and families
Connecting across neighborhoods, schools, and systems
Collaborating with partners committed to justice, safety, and community
Showing up with a holistic approach grounded in compassion, consistency, and cultural care
Meeting people where they are, without judgment
Helping youth discover their voice, their agency, and their potential
Celebrating accomplishments, the quiet ones, the unexpected ones, and the life-changing ones
This year taught us that when community leads, healing follows. When relationships are honored, trust grows. And when we center humanity, transformation becomes possible.
Looking Ahead: Year Two with Intention
As we move forward, we look ahead with bold vision and deep gratitude. In year two, we’re committed to:
Reaching more youth and families
Strengthening partnerships across the city and county
Advocating for RTJ HUB sustainability and expansion
Innovating healing-centered strategies
Expanding opportunities for growth, creativity, and leadership
Deepening our restorative, trauma-informed approach
Reducing harm and increasing safety through community-rooted collaboration
Continuing to bridge gaps between systems and the people they serve
The HUB remains a space where people are welcomed as they are, supported through what they carry, and empowered to step into what’s possible.
Thank you to everyone who has walked this journey with us. Here’s to our first year, and to the transformative work ahead.
